Johnnie Walker owner Diageo has confirmed it has hired Sujay Wasan to lead its Asia Pacific (APAC) business.

Wasan joins Diageo after nearly 28 years at Procter & Gamble (P&G), where he most recently served as the group's senior vice-president and regional leader of North America. CEO Dave Lewis – who took the hot seat on 1 January – is set to reveal the company’s full-year 2026 results on 6 August, as well as his updated strategy for Diageo. As part of his plans to turn around the drinks giant, Lewis has undertaken a restructure of the company’s workforce, which has seen the appointment of a new UK managing director and North America president and CEO. Wasan will take on John O’Keeffe's remit as president of the company's Asia Pacific and global travel retail business. O'Keeffe moved to Diageo North America as the division's president and CEO in April. “We’re delighted that Sujay will be joining Diageo. He is a global leader with a proven track record of consistently delivering breakthrough business results,” Lewis said. Wasan will start the role on 15 August. Diageo’s organic net sales in Asia Pacific dipped slightly by 0.8% in the company's third quarter (Q3). The region represents 18% of its net sales. Lewis replaced Diageo's previous CEO Debra Crew following her exit in July 2025. Another workforce restructure could impact nearly 150 jobs at Diageo's Ireland business. While Lewis has kept his updated strategy for Diageo under wraps, he has previously highlighted an opportunity to tap into the lower end of the market, following the release of the company's results for the first half of its 2026 fiscal year.
