Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) plans to cut 558 jobs in Georgia by closing two of its sites in the US state.
The distributor filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July and has since begun winding down its operations in certain states.
It recently attracted buyers for its Indiana and Kentucky arms, although the transactions have not yet closed.
RNDC has been less fortunate in Georgia, however, and filed four Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications (WARN) with the Technical College System of Georgia on 20 August.
In the notices, the firm said it had been ‘exploring various strategic alternatives’ to ensure the continuation of its Georgia operations. However, it revealed that no financing has been found.
As such, RNDC operations at two sites in Atlanta – 4300 Wildwood Parkway SE and 1 National Drive SW – are expected to cease, with all employees at the facilities set to lose their jobs.
The two sites operate under four separate companies: Republic National Distributing Company; Republic National Distributing Company of Texas; Young’s Market Company; and Young’s Market Company of Arizona.
The first two businesses employ 321 and 157 people, respectively.
