Cobblestone Brands
Cobblestone Brands has agreed to buy Bisquit & Dubouché Cognac and Cabo Wabo Tequila from Campari Group.
Financial terms of both acquisitions, which are set to be completed by 31 October 2026, were not disclosed. For Cobblestone Brands, the new acquisitions were said to mark the 'most significant milestone' in the Dublin-based company’s history. Brian Fagan, CEO and founder of Cobblestone Brands, said: "We have spent the past several years building a best-in-class route-to-market platform which will allow us to take great, but previously less-priority brands, and give them the investment, focus and commercial firepower they deserve. “Bisquit & Dubouché and Cabo Wabo are exactly the kind of brands we built this platform for.” The brands Cabo Wabo is distributed in more than 20 US states. The brand was co-founded in 1996 by former Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar, who sold an 80% stake in the brand to Campari Group in 2007 for US$80 million, relinquishing the remaining stake in 2010. "Cabo Wabo is a brand that helped change the Tequila category," said Fagan. “It has authenticity, a remarkable story and a consumer loyalty that most brands never achieve. Bringing it onto our US platform – alongside our existing portfolio – will allow us to transform our ability to service all our distributor and retail partners in America and beyond.” Bisquit & Dubouché was founded by 1819. Cobblestone Brands said the Cognac house has a strong base in South Africa, which it described as one of the category’s fastest-growing markets. It also has an established international footprint across Europe, Asia Pacific and global travel retail. "Bisquit is one of France's great Cognac houses,” said Fagan. “It has more than 200 years of heritage, an extraordinary château in the heart of Cognac, and a loyal consumer base across multiple international markets. We believe deeply in its potential and we intend to invest in it for the long term.” He added: "This is a transformational moment for Cobblestone. We are taking on brands with an extraordinary legacy, at a point where we have a rare opportunity to invest and build. We are excited about what comes next." Other brands in the Cobblestone spirits portfolio include Four Corners Gin, Star & Key Rum, Irished Up – Cold Brew Irish Coffee and Casa San Lucas Agave & Hemp Spirit. Yesterday (28 July), the company gifted the Mayo Gaelic football team a bottle of Knappogue Castle 1951 following their historic win in the Gaelic Athletic Association’s (GAA) All-Ireland Senior Football final on Sunday. Campari Group, meanwhile, released its H1 2026 financial results today (July 29) and posted 2.7% organic growth for the half-year. Recent acquisitions Last July, Cobblestone Brands acquired Irish whiskey brands Knappogue Castle and Clontarf from Pernod Ricard. In the year since that deal, Cobblestone Brands has invested heavily in building the infrastructure required to support a global portfolio as it looks to establish itself as an international premium spirits group. The company has appointed a new boss in the US, former Casa Azul CEO Dennis Carr, formed distribution partnerships across Asia Pacific and Africa, grown its presence in the Middle East and GTR, and strengthened its financial and management capabilities. Since adopting a streamlining strategy in 2025, Campari Group has moved on non-core brands to reduce outstanding debt. These have included Cinzano Vermouth; its sole production facility in Australia; its 15% stake in banana-flavoured Howler Head Bourbon; and Italian liqueur brands Amaro Averna and Zedda Piras.Comments
